Visakhapatnam Shocker: 6-Year-Old Boy Dies After Teacher Allegedly Slaps Him Over Incomplete Homework, CCTV Footage Sparks Outrage

Visakhapatnam school incident showing a distressed young boy, a classroom CCTV scene of a teacher allegedly slapping a child, and a homework note illustrating the tragic case that sparked public outrage.

A tragic incident from Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam has left the entire country in shock. A six-year-old boy studying at a private school allegedly died after his teacher slapped him for not completing his homework. The horrifying moment was captured on the school’s CCTV camera, and since the footage went viral, it has triggered widespread anger, protests, and renewed debate around corporal punishment in Indian classrooms — a topic Jantantra TV has covered extensively in its Crime and Education sections.

What Happened at Little Garden School

The incident took place on Thursday at Little Garden School in the One Town area of Visakhapatnam. The child, identified as Pranay Teja, was a student of LKG/UKG. According to the family, the boy had failed to complete his homework — reportedly because the family had just returned from a pilgrimage trip the previous day.

CCTV footage from inside the classroom shows Pranay standing in a queue with his slate, visibly frightened and crying, pleading with the teacher not to hit him. Moments later, the teacher is seen pulling him closer and slapping him across the face. Within seconds, the child collapsed into the teacher’s lap.

Rushed to Hospital, Declared Dead on Arrival

School staff immediately rushed the unconscious boy to King George Hospital (KGH), where doctors declared him brought dead. The family alleges they were not informed by the school in time and learned about the incident through relatives instead.

The boy’s father told reporters that Pranay had left home that morning in perfectly good health and had himself insisted on going to school, showing no signs of illness the previous night. This has raised serious questions about what exactly caused the sudden collapse — a question that touches on broader concerns Jantantra TV readers often raise in our Lifestyle & Parenting coverage around child safety in schools.

Cause of Death Still Unconfirmed

Early reports suggest the child may have suffered a cardiac arrest, or collapsed due to extreme shock and fear following the alleged assault. However, the exact medical cause of death has not yet been officially confirmed. Police and health officials are awaiting the post-mortem report, which is expected to clarify whether the death was a direct result of the alleged slap or linked to some other underlying factor.

Family Protests, Demands Strict Action

As news of the incident spread, the boy’s family, relatives, and local residents gathered in large numbers outside the hospital, staging a protest and demanding strict action against both the teacher and the school management. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation, while revenue department officials have separately ordered a probe into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.

Minister Promises Strict Action Amid Outrage

The incident has reignited debate over the continued prevalence of corporal punishment in schools, despite it being legally banned in India. Andhra Pradesh minister Nara Lokesh has assured the public that strict action will be taken against those responsible, as outrage continues to build on social media.

This is not an isolated case — similar incidents involving corporal punishment leading to serious injury or death among schoolchildren have been reported from other states in recent months, underlining gaps in enforcement of child safety norms inside classrooms.
