The Traitors Season 2: Munawar Faruqui Out, Harman Singha Exposed in Dramatic Week 1

The Traitors Season 2, hosted by Karan Johar, premiered on Amazon Prime Video on August 13, and it wasted absolutely no time delivering drama. In just its first three episodes, the reality game show has already claimed five contestants through murders, banishments and a major exposure — with comedian Munawar Faruqui’s shock exit and Harman Singha’s unmasking as a Traitor emerging as the two biggest talking points of the week. What Is The Traitors?

For those unfamiliar with the format, The Traitors is a psychological reality game show where a group of contestants — a mix of celebrities, comedians, musicians and social media personalities — are secretly divided into two groups: Traitors and Innocents (or “Faithfuls”). The Traitors secretly “murder” one Innocent player each round, while the entire group votes to banish someone they suspect of being a Traitor at a gathering called the Circle of Shaq. The Innocents win if they manage to identify and eliminate all the Traitors, while the Traitors win if they survive to the end without being caught.

Season 2’s cast includes Abhishek Malhan (Fukra Insaan), Munawar Faruqui, Rhea Chakraborty, Ranveer Brar, Mallika Sherawat, Krystle D’Souza, Parul Gulati, Shahneel Gill, Dalip Tahil, Harman Singha, Tanya Puri, Shalini Passi, Aaditya Kulshreshth (Kullu), Shweta Tiwari, Rida Tharana, Ansh Chopra, Ikka Singh, Prish, Soundous Moufakir, Karan Singh Magic and Sahil Salathia.

Week 1 Recap: Five Contestants Out in Three Episodes

The season wasted no time turning up the intensity:

  • Dalip Tahil saw his journey take an unexpected early turn even before he could properly settle into the game.
  • Karan Singh Magic became the season’s first murder victim, taken out by the Traitors in the second episode.
  • Munawar Faruqui suffered a shock elimination at the first Circle of Shaq. Ironically, Munawar had openly voiced suspicion about Mallika Sherawat being a Traitor early on, but the group turned the tables and voted him out instead, in part because several contestants felt he himself was playing the game like a Traitor.
  • Soundous Moufakir was murdered next, with her outspoken, vocal personality reportedly making her too much of a threat for the Traitors to keep around.
  • Harman Singha became the season’s first Traitor to be successfully identified and voted out, after days of mounting suspicion and persistent questioning led primarily by Abhishek Malhan and Parul Gulati.

Munawar Faruqui’s Exit: What Happened

Munawar Faruqui entered The Traitors Season 2 with a strong reputation, having previously won both Lock Upp and Bigg Boss Season 17 — a winning streak in reality television that had made him one of the most-discussed contestants ahead of the season, much like the buzz around other Bollywood entertainment stories that dominate social media conversations. That track record, however, may have worked against him — several housemates, including Karan Singh Magic, Harman Singha and Abhishek Malhan, grew suspicious of his gameplay from very early on.

At the first Circle of Shaq, that suspicion translated into votes, and Munawar was banished from the game despite actually being an Innocent player rather than a Traitor. Before his exit was confirmed, Munawar addressed the group, saying he had anticipated something like this happening to him, noting it wasn’t the first time he had faced this kind of situation on a reality show. When host Karan Johar later asked him to reveal whether he was a Traitor or an Innocent, Munawar responded with visible frustration, defending his gameplay and insisting he had genuinely been trying to play well.

Harman Singha: The First Traitor to Fall

While Munawar’s exit stunned viewers, the Innocents did land one major win this week — successfully identifying Harman Singha as one of the show’s secret Traitors. Singha had been under suspicion for days, and it was Abhishek Malhan’s persistent questioning, along with Parul Gulati publicly staking her credibility on her theory about him, that finally led the group to vote him out at the Circle of Shaq. When confronted, Harman ultimately admitted his role as a Traitor.

The Twist Nobody Saw Coming

Just as the Innocents were celebrating their first successful catch, the show revealed a twist that keeps the Traitors firmly in control. Shahneel Gill has been secretly recruited to join the remaining Traitors — Krystle D’Souza and Aaditya “Kullu” Kulshreshth — meaning the opposing side has already replenished its numbers before the Innocents even had a chance to enjoy their victory. In other words, while one Traitor is gone, the remaining Innocents have no idea a new one has just joined the ranks working against them.

Other Key Moments From Week 1

Beyond the eliminations, the first three episodes were packed with subplots that are already shaping alliances and rivalries:

  • Parul Gulati publicly staked her credibility on her suspicion about Harman Singha, a moment that paid off once he was exposed.
  • Shweta Tiwari broke down emotionally after facing a betrayal during a team task set in a museum.
  • Mallika Sherawat made headlines for a lighthearted, offbeat claim about actor Tom Cruise having a crush on her.
  • Friendships across the house have already started showing cracks as suspicion spreads following Harman’s exposure.

What’s Next for The Traitors Season 2

With Munawar Faruqui and Karan Singh Magic gone, Soundous Moufakir murdered, and Harman Singha exposed as the first caught Traitor, the game has already reshuffled itself dramatically in just one week. But with Shahneel Gill secretly joining the Traitors’ side, the balance of power remains firmly tilted against the Innocents heading into Week 2. New episodes of The Traitors Season 2 release every Thursday, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.

Conclusion

The Traitors Season 2 has clearly set the tone for a chaotic, unpredictable season right from its opening week. Between an unexpected elimination, a successful Traitor exposure and a secret twist that undercuts the Innocents’ one big win, the show has given viewers plenty to debate ahead of next week’s episodes. As alliances continue to shift and suspicion spreads through the house, this season looks set to be just as gripping as its predecessor.
