Mirzapur: The Movie Trailer Out; Ravi Kishan To Clash With Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal In Power War

The wait for Mirzapur: The Movie is finally over as the trailer has finally been released. As expected, the trailer has everything that fans have fallen in love with the popular Prime Video series for – heart-thumping action, small-town flair and loads of sharp dialogues that made Mirzapur not just a web series but a cult phenomenon. For the time that Mirzapur has been off the air, the trailer suggests that the battle for the throne is only going to get bloodier. For the latest updates from the world of Bollywood and OTT, you can always rely on us at JantantraTV Entertainment.

The Throne Is Never Inherited, It’s Won

As the trailer begins, Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) is heard saying that the day you sit on that throne you are doomed to an everlasting bond with death. True to form, the trailer encapsulates everything the first season and the second season of Mirzapur had stood for — that power in Mirzapur is never given, it is earned through blood.

The caption of the official post also talks about the same, with the line that the gaddi is neither inherited nor gifted but earned through sweat and trials. In short, the trailer already has the plot – a new war for the ultimate power in Mirzapur with old and new rivals eyeing the gaddi.

Faces, New Rivalries

Gurmmeet Singh, who directed some episodes of the web series, returns as the director of the film while Puneet Krishna is the writer. As expected, it has all the major stars from the web series, with some of them making their big-screen debut:

Pankaj Tripathi is back as Kaleen Bhaiya, Akhandanand Tripathi, the fearsome don of Mirzapur. Divyenndu is back as Munna Bhaiya, who in the trailer, shows up and calls himself the Prince of Mirzapur. Ali Fazal too is back as Guddu Pandit, who too seems to be eyeing the gaddi. Rasika Dugal, who plays Beena Tripathi, has also returned. However, Jitendra Kumar has been introduced as the new Bablu Pandit after he replaces Vikrant Massey.

Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Gaur, Abhishek Banerjee, Sushant Singh, Rajesh Tailang, Sheeba Chadha, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Mohit Malik and Sonal Chauhan are also a part of the film.

Ravi Kishan Enters as The Biggest Wildcard

The biggest star in the trailer is definitely Ravi Kishan, who has come on board as Babban Babua, a villain with a different kind of menacing charm. Ravi Kishan’s starrer has already added fuel to the fire, as he is likely to step up as a major rival to Kaleen Bhaiya. With the power dynamics likely to change, Ravi Kishan has entered the fray and added a new dimension to the game. It is now likely that he will challenge Kaleen Bhaiya’s position on the throne. With cars, guns, deserts and more – the trailer suggests that it will be bigger in scale than the web series. This, of course, will be one major attraction for fans, with the movie marking the first-ever move of an OTT show to theatres. Just days ago, Ranbir Kapoor was in the headlines for his outlandish comments on “beef” around the release of his film Ramayana, suggesting that it is only fitting that the Hindi cinema’s “beef” with theatres be resolved.

From OTT To Theatres – A Franchise First

Mirzapur movie, which is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment in association with Amazon MGM Studios, will release in theatres on 4th September 2026. Later, it will be available to stream on Prime Video outside India after an eight-week theatrical window.

Interestingly, Season 4 is still in the making, as Mirzapur, for a franchise first, has decided to make a big-screen feature film which would release in theatres first even as Season 4 is still in the works.

This OTT-to-theatres trend may well be the future for a number of Indian film-makers, as the recent theatrical success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with its record-breaking $1 billion-dollar collection worldwide, has proved audiences’ love for superhero movies on the big screen. Just like Mirzapur, Spider-Man: Brand New Day too has had its digital debut before making its way to theatres.

Why This Trailer Has Us Talking, The Excitement Around It

Ever since its release on Amazon Prime Video, Mirzapur has been garnering massive popularity for its intense narrative about power struggles in the fictional city of Mirzapur, set against the backdrop of Uttar Pradesh. The Prime Video series has gained immense attention for its taut dialogues and exploration of themes such as crime, family drama and revenge that are similar to Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur.

With Ravi Kishan’s entry as a powerful villain and the return of the major stars from the digital series for a big-screen release, Mirzapur: The Movie is expected to be one of the biggest releases of Bollywood this year.

But who will eventually claim the throne and how will they hold on to it for long?
